IHC Engineering Services delivered first IHC 8527MP®

Newbuilding of dredging equipment and offshore vessels at non-IHC Merwede yards

IHC Engineering Services is available as committed partner in local dredger newbuilding projects across the globe.

This means lower manpower costs than in Western Europe, yet the full professional company responsibility for the design, dedicated dredge- and offshore systems and components, as well as project management and supervision for all phases of the construction, from basic engineering to commissioning. This ensures a product that meets all requirements of the contract specification at a competitive price and with a favorable influence on local equipment. As an example, the IHC 7025MP® is a successful cutter suction dredger series built in China. The first one was launched in January 2006. Till mid 2009, 16 IHC has successfully delivered 16 IHC 7025MP®'s and the next few years the series will grow even further.

For large capital dredging projects, IHC developed the IHC 8527MP®.  Both dredgers combine high production with long discharge length (dedicated to dredge work in China). The first dredger of this series has been launched September 2009 at our partner shipyard in Dalian, China.
The dredger is the first of a total of 8 dredgers currently under construction of which 6 for Tianjin Shunhang Shipping Co. Ltd. and is baptized GANG HAI JUN 516. The dredger will be handed over in February 2010 and will be set to work in Shan Tou, South China. It is equipped with 1100 kW electric cutter drive and a total of 9400 kW pumping power divided over a submerged pump and two onboard dredgepumps giving this dredger a big advantage when discharging on pipelines of 10 km and longer.

With options like cutter or wheel, accommodation size, Automatic Cutter Controller (IHC 8527MP®) and Automatic Pump Controller (IHC 7025MP®), these dredgers can be optimized to the client's requirements and operating circumstances.

Full lifetime support
IHC Engineering Services understands that dredging equipment undergoes some of the harshest treatment known to man. For this reason, and to minimize costs of operations, the company is able to fully support clients during the equipment's life cycle. This service extends from operator training, logistics support and immediate spare parts availability to maintenance guidance and ultimately to equipment redesign and upgrading. Clients do not only acquire IHC Merwede hardware, they also acquire IHC Merwede's commitment.
